The Hershey Harrisburg Sports & Events Authority (HHSE) announced today that the Maryland Roster for the 2022 Big 26 Baseball Classic is set. A team of 26 all-star athletes will travel to Harrisburg July 21- 23 to take on Pennsylvania, whose roster will be announced in the coming weeks.
The Big 26 Baseball Classic features a scouted combine and 3-game series. Players also participate in the Buddy Program, where they are paired with special needs children, teens, and young adults for a variety of activities. Activities take place at Penn State Harrisburg (housing and scouted combine) and FNB Field (Buddy program and 3-game series.)
2023 marks the 10th meeting of the two states. Host state Pennsylvania leads the series 6-3.
Players from grad years 2024 and 2025 were invited to try out at one of two workouts. Coaches selected the final roster of 26 from a group of 60 athletes looking to represent Maryland in July’s Big 26 matchup with Pennsylvania.
The Maryland team is coached by Randy Kail (FTB Mid-Atlantic), Mike Kelly (Loyola Blakefield HS), Drew Lowman (St. John’s College HS), and Guy Smith (Huntingtown HS).
